Minimum Order Quantity for Custom Umbrellas Using Different Material
The minimum order quantity is often the first inquiry from our new clients, particularly those from start-up companies and emerging brands.
Honestly speaking, as an umbrella manufacturing factory, Hongjie has long been producing umbrellas in large quantities. We now manufacture over 1.5 million umbrellas annually, with 85% supplied to major customers (mainly importers in European and American countries). However, in recent years, we’ve observed a global trend of rapid growth in the custom umbrella business, while young brands struggle to find a factory offering low minimum order quantities, including for auto-open custom umbrella.
We recognize the needs of these emerging enterprises and aim to support them by providing premium-quality umbrellas and exceptional communication services.

Our Minimum Order Quantities for Different Umbrella Types
2025 Update:
We have reduced the minimum order quantity for single designs to as low as 100 units (per design/size). By utilizing flexible production line technology, we provide cost-effective solutions for small brands, corporate gifts, event customization, and more, including advertising golf umbrellas. This low MOQ also applies to specialized options like golf umbrellas with printed windproof design.
Updated on 2025.04.08
| Umbrella Type | MOQs | Umbrella Type | MOQs |
| Golf Umbrella | 100 | Folding Umbrella with Black Cap | 500 |
| Regular Straight Umbrella | 200 | Folding Umbrella with Custom Cap | 1,200 |
| Wooden Straight Umbrella | 500 | Mini Umbrella | 1,200 |
Note:
MOQs apply per design. For example, 10 golf umbrella designs would require 10×100=1,000 units total. Special processes (e.g., Embroider/Foil Stamping/UV coating) may require additional MOQ increments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a huge difference in MOQ between wooden and plastic custom umbrellas?
Mainly due to different processing methods: plastic handles can be mass-produced by injection molding (single mold daily output 5000+), with low switching costs; wooden handles rely on manual polishing (15 minutes per unit), and wood qualification rate is only 70%. High MOQ is required to dilute loss and labor costs.
In the trial production stage, I want to test 3 materials, 50 units each. How to achieve this?
Will different colors of the same material increase MOQ?
Can the additional MOQ requirements for special processes (e.g., UV coating) be waived by price increase?
Partially feasible. For example, the standard MOQ for UV coating is 300 units. If only 100 units are needed, a 20% process premium can be paid (covering additional machine adjustment costs), which most factories will accept. However, for processes relying on special equipment such as gold stamping and embroidery, the possibility of waiving MOQ by price increase is low.
After the order quantity exceeds MOQ, can delivery be made in batches?
Yes. Arrange a "rolling delivery plan" with the factory: for example, a 500-unit folding umbrella order, 200 units delivered first, 300 units delivered 30 days later. This meets immediate needs while avoiding one-time inventory pressure. The material consistency standards for each batch (e.g., color difference ≤1.5ΔE) must be specified in the contract.
How to judge whether the MOQ given by the factory is reasonable?
Refer to the "material-process-MOQ" benchmark: standardized materials (metal, plastic) + conventional printing, MOQ should be ≤200 units; special materials (solid wood, carbon fiber) + complex processes, MOQ ≤800 units is reasonable. If it far exceeds this range, request the factory to provide "cost composition details" (e.g., mold fees, machine adjustment hourly rate) for further negotiation and optimization.
